Blogs Cons
Blogs are very useful and provide a LOT of advantages if we do a good use of them. But there are also some negative outcomes when using them and some cons in the way they are develop or they are used that we also need to keep in mind. Let's list a couple of these blogs disadvantages:
1.- Takes time to keep a blog updated: As with wikis, blogs also require a lot of work and time to keep the iformation updated and the looking of the blog nice and interesting. Articles most be found, read, analyzed and them comment on the blog in a veryconcrete manner with clear vocabulary. We must log in daily to keep the blog update it, clean and organized. Information varies and advances quickly and reader's immidiate feedback requires more a more time to keep on cheking and updating the comments. Eventhough updating a blog its not complicate ir as we mentioned in the Pros List, it does take a lot of time.
2.- You might expose yourself too much: You can get carried on with your comments, you need to keep it neutral, clear and be respectful in all senses. We need to keep in mind that everyone (public blogs) can read your publications, we dont want people to feel offensive or to know too much about our personal lives or feelings.
Can you think of any other disadvantages of blogs?

Blogs Pros
Being a blog user has showed me a long list of benefits that blogging offers. In here, I will provide a short list of some of these pros to discuss about how useful blogs are and all the advantages we can take out of them.
- Quick and Easy to create: Blogs do not need much work or time to be created. Following a cuple of steps its all you need to create one. The fact that we can easily compare it to a personal notebook makes things very easy. As with wikis, you DO NOT have to know much about technology, blogs are even easier to create than wikis, each entry is just one "word doc", tools provided are clear and we are very familiar with them, and adding images and links its as simple as it can be. Everyone can create a blog, the fact that there are over 150 million of them proves it. Keeping active and updated easily, and that is a great advantage because it is really useful to communicate online and to provide and look for information and clarify doubts by sharing experiences and personal findings.
- Improvement of your writing skills: I believe that having a blog, besides offering you information in a easy and fast way it is also a great way to work on your wirting skill. The best way to become a good writer is to write and write and write as much as you can. As blogs are meant to be read by anyone to whom you want to offer information and give them the opportunity to inform you back, you need to be clear, direct, specific and even clever and witty to keep people interested. Your documentation and the information provided most be good, clear, verified, interesting and prevailing of course, but the way you communicate its very important. So, having people reading your outputs constantly and from anywhere makes you work harder to get to them and get the information through.
- Get Immediate Feedback: This is one of the magical benefits from virtual technologies, working online with other people it's really good to keep it as real as possible. That what blogs do. You can provide information at anytime about whatever you like and people can reply to you immediately from anywhere. This is something that really need to be noticed and be appreciate it. Information can keep on updating automatically by peoples feedback about any topic and you can get quick answers to your doubts immediatly.

Wikis Cons
So, click here to see the whole web about Wikis pro and Cons. But in this post I will provide mine own selection of WIkis cons, some of them concur with those of the website.
1. More responsibility for the teachers: Working with wikis inevitably provides more work for the teachers, teacher most keep on checking what comments are made in the wiki, pictures, links, etc that are provided by the students or other coordinators, in case they are not appropiate in the wiki for young kids or are out of the range that the teacher wants to stick to.
2. More work for the teacher other than the normal curriculum: I think we all agree in this one. COnventional classes need less work than teaching through wikis and keeping wikis updated. We have experience this first hand. Having a good, nice looking, heavy information weight, interesting and current topics that really help students and keep them interesnted it is NOT easy to do. Its a lots of hours work and dedication, that require lots of hours in front of a computer.
3. Some Wikis are open to the public which make them vulnerable to vandalism: we need to make sure that the wiki can only be seen by a reduced group of people, the security and privacy of the wiki is VERY important (we went through this topic, remember? ) to me this is a very powerful cons, eventhough we decide to whom we open the wiki, public wikis will always have this disadvantage and will be vulnerable to any of this negative actions, hackers, etc. We also need to provide what is essential and basic for the imrpovement of the student proficency, avoiding any explosure of personal information or details. Privacy is VERY VERY important.

Is English the language of the future?
English or Chinese?
English has been the global
language but, nowadays, there are other languages which are becoming more and
more important. For instance, many people study Chinese Mandarin because they
consider it the language of the future. So, what happens with English? Is it
going to be as significant as it has been till now?
On the one hand, it is
suggested that the economic power China has is making people study its language
in order to do business in this Asian country. Moreover, it is argued that
there is a direct relationship between the language and the economy. In this
sense, it is asserted that the English language is going to decline as the
dollar did. In addition, the Chinese currency –the renminbi– is becoming the next reserve currency and, hence, the
language should be studied. It is also suggested that Mandarin first has to
conquer its area and, then, the rest of the world. Indeed, it appears Chinese
is conquering part of Asia. In this regard, in some schools in Malaysia
teachers do not employ English as they used to but Chinese. That’s why in an article of the BBC News it is mentioned that a boy from Malaysia has to go to Singapore every
day since in his home country English is not the main language at school as it
is in Singapore.
On the other hand, it is
claimed that it is quite difficult to consider Chinese the rival of English. In
this sense, there are many companies which look for people who not only speak
English but also Mandarin. Thence, it seems reasonable to suggest that what is
taking place in the South East Asia is bilingualism, i.e. both Chinese and
English coexist together. Moreover, this bilingualism regarding languages is
also present with respect to culture. In this regard, it is mentioned that English
will remain significant in Asia till Hollywood exists since some American films
are quite important in the Asian culture. A possible example would be Kung FuPanda which showed the most popular Chinese animal and made Asian people learn
English while watching it.
